On stage, drag queen Lola is a fierce beast, but behind the scenes, her insecurities and fears come to life—literally. As she applies her makeup, an insect-like monster slithers into her dressing room. Armed with nothing but her lip-sync skills, Lola must confront her greatest fears.
In My Darling Demon, Lars Brinkman brings his inner demons, born from the experience of being queer in a heteronormative world, to the stage. In this David Lynchian trip, he combines his love of horror with the playfulness of drag. How do you overcome your fears when your eyelashes are torn from your lids, and your stilettos are thrown out of reach?

Lars Brinkman is an Amsterdam-born performer, theatremaker, and filmmaker. His work transforms deeply personal queer narratives into theatrical pieces which blend reality and fantasy. Drawing inspiration from drag culture, nightmares and monsters, he explores themes through a heightened, exaggerated lens, often taking on grotesque forms.

This year, Brinkman embraced a visceral, gut-punch approach to deliver an urgent message to his audience by merging the genres of drag and horror. He plans to further explore and develop this genre-bending cinematic style.
