Mahsa Koochak

Mahsa Koochak is an Iranian filmmaker, performance artist and photographer and a graduate of the DAS Theater Masters in Amsterdam. With her graduation work, Touchscape: Camping Beyond Reasoning Mahsa started collaborating with theater maker Raha Tafakori, performer and object theater maker Laura Boser and visual artist Dariya Trubina. As a group, they are united by a shared commitment to explore tactility, politics and relationality through interdisciplinary practices. Based in Amsterdam, their work centers on sensory engagement—movement, objects, sculptures and nonverbal communication—to challenge dominant modes of perception and foster new forms of connection.

Touchscape (Pocket Version) is a portable adaption of Touchscape 3. Camping beyond Reasoning, exploring how touch reshapes perception. In this work, we invite participants to engage with a curated environment, focusing on tactile exploration and nonverbal communication. Dim lighting and sensory materials heighten awareness of bodily sensations and the subtle ways we relate to one another. The work emerged from interdisciplinary research into embodiment and its political dimensions and from our interest in how orientation and connection can extend beyond sight. Each interaction transforms the space, creating an evolving, intimate performance. With Touchscape, we hope to offer a shared experience of curiosity and reflection, facilitating connection with the unfamiliar.”

Please note: Before participating, you will receive a brief introduction to the sensory materials used. When entering the darkened space, you are invited to move through the space at your own pace. You may leave at any time, but please be considerate of other participants. The artists are present to ensure safety throughout.
