In this theatre performance, Max researches what an Indonesian-Dutch identity is and what it means to him. He tells stories about growing up in multicultural Amsterdam and plays several characters from different cultural backgrounds that tell him what to think and how to behave. Like a chameleon, he learns how to adapt to the other cultures ways of behaving. But what is the Indonesian-Dutch culture and how does it influence Max way of behaving? What is expected of him and what does he expect of himself?
Max Pickkers is a theatre maker who likes to explore different types of theatre. He grew up in the neighbourhood of Osdorp, in multicultural Amsterdam. Since he was young, he has had a fascination for various cultures and their differences and similarities. He enjoys discovering their norms and values, languages, and art and what the culture means for people's identity. He has always felt like a chameleon: constantly adapting to his changing environment.

Bureau Broedplaatsen is part of the municipality of Amsterdam. Its task is to realize more affordable studios and (residential) workspaces for artists and incubator groups. Bureau Broedplaatsen does this in collaboration with target group organisations, city districts, central services, corporations, real estate agents, developers, and banks.
