senakirfa A. is an interdisciplinary artist from Amsterdam. A. is interested in tools of communication and the poetic in(ter)vention of language. Through her work, which includes sculpture, poetry, installation, and sound, she currently focuses on oral traditions.
“ “—” is the installation that I present during the International Art Talent Festival.
The work explores the materialization of speech through sculpture and sound. With this work, speech is approached through a set of objects that resemble a spectrogram; a visual representation of audio, where time, frequency and amplitude, are (re)presented in a graph, which often shows a particular waveform of sound. This interdisciplinary body of work, consisting of personal belongings and recorded sound, reflects on the characteristics found in a spectrogram graph and how objects become evocative instruments that locate memory and mimic speech.”
